One-Day Workshop (7 hours of training)

This workshop will introduce the participants to different stages of child development according to Moreno and other psychodramatists who have extended and embellished his ideas further. The significance of this knowledge base for using psychodramatic techniques of doubling, mirroring and role reversal in psychotherapy will be explored. There will be opportunities to practice the use of some of these techniques of psychodrama. After attending this workshop, participants will be able to: 1. Gain a deeper understanding of Moreno’s Spontaneity Theory of Child Development that underpins common psychodrama techniques such as mirroring, doubling and role reversal 2. Utilize these techniques with a clearer knowledge of their significance for healthy self development in psychotherapy

Ananta Chauhan PhD MA MEd RP TEP

Ananta Chauhan, aka Baljit Kaur, is a Registered Psychotherapist and a Trainer Educator Practitioner in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy, having trained since 2005 in New Zealand and Canada. She holds a Ph.D. in Specific Learning Disabilities and Masters in Psychology and Education. Ananta uses psychodrama and sociometry with groups and individuals drawing on her extensive experience of working with children, families and women. Her passion lies in using action methods to enliven professional and personal experiences, particularly working with people with diverse abilities and cultural backgrounds.

Kim Irvine-Albano MA RP TEP

Kim Irvine-Albano has been a psychotherapist for over 20 years. Kim has a Masters in Transpersonal Studies and is a Registered Psychotherapist. She is a Certified Practitioner in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy and is in her final year of studies to become a trainer of Psychodrama and Sociometry. Kim currently works at a community counselling centre in Kingston Ontario, where she uses psychodrama and sociometry with groups, couples, and individual clients. Kim lives amongst trees and wildlife and enjoys connecting with nature, connecting with people, and spending time with her partner and two teenage children, two dogs, and chickens.
